If you work on many computers and need to sync your bookmarks, cookies and more I have a great tool for you. I work in many locations from home, office and remotely while traveling with my notebook. How ever I get damn tired of having to set up my bookmarks, passwords, cookies from computer to computer. I recently found an firefox extension that was developed by Google Labs that that continuously synchronizes your browser settings.

Google Sync Firefox extension helps you sync bookmarks, history, persistent cookies, and saved passwords – across your computers. It also allows you to restore open tabs and windows across different machines and browser sessions.

Let me give you an example how I use this after you have installed it. Lets say your reading a web page at home maybe while doing some research. Instead of having to write down the url, or email it to your work account, you simply exit your browser at home, and then open up your browser at work. Google sync pops up a small window with all the urls that you had open from the last time you closed your browser. You simply click restore and it loads the page up.

This is just one example of what Google Sync does.

UPDATE: Found a nice self contained unit that replaces the Pocket PC, and Bluetooth gps receiver, more information at the bottom of the post.

I have been wanting to set this up for some time and recently found a combination of hardware and software that work for me. What is this all about you ask? Well let me shed some light on this. Geo photo, coding, or what ever you want to call it, is the ability to write GPS data to jpeg EXIF headers. This text data is stored in the header of a jpeg adding the longitude, latitude and altitude you took your photo at.

You can do this a few ways, first of all you can buy a camera with built in gps (as of this time they are still pretty low quality), buy a hand held gps device that stores (waypoint, GPX, NMEA data) or a combination of devices. I have chosen the latter because I had a few piece of hardware already. Most if not all devices export out to some data format the one I choose is NMEA data since it works with the software im using on my PC.

My hardware setup consists of:

• Pocket PC with built in bluetooth
• Canon SD900 10 mega pixel camera
• i-Blue 737 bluetooth gps.

and the software im using:

• Navio for the Pocket PC
• RoboGeo for my PC

So how do you make this all work?
Well in theory you connect your gps to your pocket pc via bluetooth launch the Navio software, start it’s gps logging option which can record every few seconds your location to a file and then take your photos.

Ok last weeks buzz was all about the iPhone but news seems to be still trickling in about this device even though its not do out till some time in June if you can get your hands on one. I wanted to share this video from CBS News because it really shows someone going though the iPhone’s interface and showing off some of the features. This is a great way to actually see how the proximity sensor stuff work on he device.

Apple iPhone Link

Well their has been allot of speculation as to what this device might look like over the last 6 months and today it was finally shown to the world. I have to say my jaw hit the floor when I was watching the mac keynote today. This is everything I have wanted in a phone with a slim form factor, nice design, big screen and touch sensitive screen.

I have been an owner of many pocket pc’s and then eventually a pocket pc smart phone but this puppy blows the competition to pieces.

Motorola, Samsung and anyone else who has made phones int he past take note today is the day things changed.

So what do I like about this phone. Well first of all the small form factor but with a big screen really works well in the design and videos i have seen. The GUI is beautiful and the software packaged with the device seems to flow flawless with Apples true design skills.

Is it a mp3 player, video player, internet browser, gps google maps, sms, email and weather? it sure is and im sure more surprises will come out. Apple says with video , talk time or internet browsing you will get about 5 hrs of battery life which isnt to bad. Seems like itunes will get a upgrade and you will be able to sync your music, videos, photos, podcasts and contacts over on either your PC of Mac.. which I good cause i dont own a mac..

In some other news the Treo 700w was released by verizon today but im pretty dissapointed cause the screen size is limited to 240×240 and not 320×320 like the older Treo 650. I recently picked up a PPC6700 on Sprints Network and so far im pretty happy with it, unfortunally I had to find a few forums about this phone and use alot of tweaks, tricks to get it working like I wanted. Well its that time of year when everyone heads to Vegas to check out the latest gadgets coming out in the new year. The Consumer Electronic Show (CES) starts this week and will packed full of people running into each other in the halls, not making space for you to walk and just being over all rude. I have been to CES about 7 times in my life starting way back when It first came to life and as recently as last year. I usually only do a few hrs and make a mad dash though CES trying to find the things im intrested in.

This year tho Im going to be sitting my ass in front of my computer and watching any webcasts or reading up on any of the cool tech websites because they are gonna cover it all and no need to push and shove your way though a bunch of stuffy hallways of guys and girls in power suites who think they are somebody.. oh sorry thats more of a rant than tech but it slipps in some times.
