Flickr Vision – See Flickr in a differnt light

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

I heard about this on a weekly tech podcast I listen to, and it recently came up on digg and it reminded me to write a little blurb about this on my blog.

Flickr Vision is a simple website that takes photos that are posted in flickr that have been geo tagged (gps data embedded into the photo) and displays them on a 2d or 3d map. Its pretty neat and you can find your self just watching the 3d version for quite some time. I do want to point out this isn’t real time, meaning that the photo posted could of been taken a day ago but someone just decided to add it to flikr, what is real time is when they add it.

anyhow head on over to Flickr Vision and check it out for your self. I prefer the 3d view personally.

One Night in Bangkok

Originally uploaded by Stuck in Customs.

Someone sent me this link the other day since they knew I liked HDR photos (high dynamic range). This one guy really seems to amaze me on the quality of his work, I’m sure their are some tweaks in photoshop but non the less his stuff is deff worth looking at. Check out more on his flickr account or head to his site Stuck in Customs.

You have new Picture Mail!

Originally uploaded by Gate-Way.

While playing poker last night, I took a photo of the cards, don’t ask, i a shutter bug so I always have my camera phone or real camera out taking pics. After waking up today to my surprise the photo I took out caught a cheater in action or the cheaters ghost buddy.

In in all seriousness I thought this pic was sorta neat and im not 100% sure what happened, but it looks pretty interesting.

san francisco exploratorium outside

Originally uploaded by Gate-Way.

Was out in san francisco taking some photos after a few days of rain, here is yet another geo photo, which is a way to write the long/lat to your jpeg files and services like flickr and others will map your photo for you. You can check out my photos section as well for more.
Click on the image which takes you to flicker, under the image you will see links that will display where the photo was taken (google earth, maps, satellite, topo, etc)
