I arrived shortly after 6pm an the place was already packed with diggers. I was surprised to see allot of younger people at the Chalet, luckily this place wasn’t a 21 and only establishment. So I had some time to kill, I started talking to a few people and one of them was announcing a new magazine on the show named JPG which takes the best submitted photos on the web from amateurs and prints them in his mag. You can check out his site here. Downing another IPA (#2) the place started to get really packed and anticipation started to grow. Finally Kevin and Alex showed up and where mobbed by the diggers, almost along the lines of rock stars which is pretty cool that with the internet almost anyone with a video camera has the potential to become a net celebrity.

The setup:

*Background to Diggnation 85 will be of course the background of the bar at the Chalet.

*Discovery Channel was also filming this, im not quite 100% sure if its a dedicated show to diggnation or part of a bigger show about internet video companies and celebrities.

*Youtube seemed to be their with a few guys trying to do a live broadcast of the show, I have a picture of one mac book with a verizon edvo card in it streaming data to the server. IM not sure how good their data connection was because alot of people in that area didn’t have great cell service , one person I talked to mentioned that cingular sucked ass and had no bars, while I pulled up my sprint phone to see 2+ bars with an edvo signal.

I wont run the stories that where talked about during the show but I do have to admit this is going to be one great episode and shouldn’t be missed. How ever I do have to say that this episodes is a bit more raw/raunchy with a few more adult jokes and a picture form JPG that could be NWS, but who cares, if something like that bothers you turn it off.

While watching the show it became clear to my little area that we wouldn’t be able to reach the bar for drinks, so someone put a $20 into an empty pitcher and tried an experiment. Pass the pitcher down to the bar and hope it comes back. After about 5 minutes to our surprise the pitcher showed backup filled. I have a before and after picture included with this post.

Overall this was a great show, having a live audience definitely seemed to fire up Kevin and Alex and it should come across in the video when its released.
