I recently came across this story in a monthly magazine I get called “Free Speaker” which is published by the Free Speech Coalition. In it is an article that I found really disturbing as to how the US and well some states are still handling adults rights to buy sex toys or other sex related things.

A store clerk in El Paso, Texas mentioned to a customer in the shop that the dildo could be used to “arouse” her. Unfortunately for the store clerk that customer was an undercover cop with nothing much else to do. Now you would prob say to your self right now so what, is it a big deal to mention that? You bet, in Texas apparently the only legal way to offer up such a sex toy for sale is to describe it as an art object or therapeutic item. Oh also you can mention its an educational tool, anyhow he was arrested and spent 12 hrs in jail and now up to a year in jail and a $4000 fine.

Now Ignacio was pissed and he is right to be for being jailed over some thing like this and attempted to bring this case to the Supreme Court which recently refused to hear his case.

Now I don’t know the geographical location of most of you reading this blog but I can assume that your jaw has just dropped to the floor and your wondering what the hell is wrong with the US and more Texas. I couldn’t believe it my self so i wanted to research this in case it was some prank but low and behold this is true, In fact their is a new book out called “Americans War on Sex” which has plenty more stories like this one.

I highly recommend giving this a read, and if your serious about protecting your rights in sexuality and many other fronts you could donate to the Free Speech Coalition who is working hard to protect Americans rights don’t worry the site is work safe and has alot of information about whats going on in the adult buiness in the US.

Ok news has been floating around lately that Sony will not allow Adult companies to put their movies on the new Blu-Ray disc technology they have. This is a huge nail in the coffin for Sony and they are on the way to alienating their format. This is a mistake in my eyes given the current struggle for format wars (Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD).

Adult video sales/rentals in 2006 reached about 3.6 billion in revenue.

Sony has done this before from what I understand with the BetaMax, yet another superior format back in the 90′s but lost out to the generic lower quality VHS format.

The VHS brought porn into the living room back in the 80′s-90′s creating the wank at home option instead of using the movie theater. Porn has continued to push forward with any new type of technology (internet, mobile devices, etc). So if you don’t get on the porn wagon (*cough* US phone carriers) you are losing out on revenue.

Sony WTF are you doing? do you really want to push your self in the corner and do the same mistake again? Porn is here to stay, porn drives billions of dollars in revenue world wide and it also helps sell products. In a competing market for shares of new technology your screwing your self by not allowing adult movies on Blu-Ray.

This is my rant, I think with Sony has made a mistake and im going on record to say it here HD-DVD will win the format war. Is Blu-Ray format superior maybe, but that doesn’t always win when you have to deal with consumer acceptance.

Are they both obsolete soon? Yea I think so, with more and more IPTV systems, and more and more people downloading HD content to their pc’s the way of the disc is going away.

update: I stand corrected, some news came out today from Xbiz who talked to the Blu-Ray Disc Association.

“There is not a prohibition against adult content,” Gordon said. “The [Blu-ray Disc Association] is an open organization that welcomes the participation of all companies interested in using and supporting the format, including those that represent the full spectrum of genres in the content industry.” More can be found here (adult warning)
